Tonight will be a meteor shower at 10:30pm – my studio mate informed me – I checked into it and according to USA Today – “Normally they’re about 70 to 80 an hour but tonight it could get up to over 100 an hour, that more than one a minute …”
I’m going to park myself on the patio (we have a view over looking lake Ontario as well as the city of Toronto) and marvel at the wonders of space.
I hope you enjoy it too!

Last Saturday Erin and I had our picture taken on Ossington for the blog “the perfect pairing”.

The blog focuses on street fashion footwear. It’s really fun to see the interesting shoes – but terrible for the future of my bank account as I, like so many am addicted to beautiful shoes. To make matters worse – I can find where each pair is from so easily from the descriptions located below each picture.

On another note – Erin’s shoes (located on the left of the above photo) are from Aldo and were quite reasonably priced. We liked them so much we ended up using them for our SS11 photoshoot. Pictures to follow soon.

My shoes (located on the right of the photo above this one) are from Chasse Gardee on Queen street West at Dovercourt. They were marked down 80% and are such a good investment. You can see them in the photo above located on one of the top most shelves. They had so many beautiful new arrivals as well as insanely well priced sale stock. I vowed to only purchase shoes in the future from this boutique. To find out more about Chasse Gardee click here.
We’ve recently been added to the website 100milefinds.com. It acts as an online local fashion finder.

When you find something of interest you can explore a sample of the creators work on their personal page, read up on what the company is all about and view the map and address to check it out in person!
I really liked how many local places I love came up on my 100 mile find search when I entered my address. It was fun to see familiar brands/boutiques along with ones I haven’t yet had the pleasure of exploring.

Silvio and his wife Estella Rodriquez recently opened their long awaited Argentinian Yerba Mate tea shop called ‘El Almacen’. They are the brother and sister-in-law of my partner Sergio. It’s located at 1078 Queen street west, just east of Dovercourt on the north side.

They specialize in a traditional herbal tea known as Yerba Mate. This tea was first introduced to me at a family function at Sergio’s parents house. It is a communal drink, shared by everyone attending. It’s a wonderful way to be welcomed.
So many people have written about the tea and location itself. So I wanted to write about a different aspect of the location aside from it’s wonderful tea and it’s healthy properties. I want to write about the artwork. The painting above hung in my living room for 6 months before it took up its current residence. It’s a portrait of Sergio’s twin brother Christian Rodriguez and his wife Debra dancing the tango. It was painted by Christian himself and is absolutely incredible. Life size.
This painting above is one of the newest of Christians work. His style is Urban classicalism. The concept consists of classical painting techniques similar to 17th century artists mixed with current urban situations and themes.
Visit his website at cristianrodriguez.webs.com for a look at all his works.

Another artist who’s work you can see in the cafe is that of Dean Radic, friend of the family for some years. His work is featured on the two front tables of the cafe as well as canvases on the wall. Above is one of my favorites. FIAT MIHI , studio on Facebook
