Colin Asuncion is a wonder man. He is pound for pound the best entertainer/artist/scholar/general person around. He performed in a production of West side story last year and promptly stole the show.
As per this photo, he’s pretty rad. Imagine our excitement when he invited Erin and I as guest judges in the SENSO SMC charity fashion show at U of T. It’s always a pleasure to support events for charity – this years funds going to help Haiti relief – but it was just as great to be on the same stage with Colin and enjoy the fun .
Here we are judging the competition along with Colin. It was a fantastic night – I highly suggest you attend the next one!
AW’10 photoshoot video. It’s a short little piece. Erin’s husband Patrick shot it for us on his iphone (?) I could be wrong about that. The video features a moment captured during the shooting of our lifestyle looks.
Erin and Pat went to a family farm outside of Toronto a few weekends ago and cut down a few small trees. Pat cut the branches off and learned how to erect a teepee of sorts via the internet. He did a really great job! He just sort of brought the trees in and *pop* they were in place.
Felix Wong shot the catalogue for us and he did a WONDERFUL job. He was a true professional and had a great ipod mix of songs from the hit sitcom “Glee”. He and Erin Dunn, our model from Elmer Olsen enjoyed singing along while taking breaks in between shots. The ‘other’ Erin (a la Las Valentias) and I had no idea what the big deal was with these songs as neither of us have seen the show. Regardless, I’m glad we had such a great day.
Kubo was our gracious model for part of the shoot. Erin’s husband Patrick trained her so well!
We had such a mello day, good music, great people.
Erin our model and Erin from Las Valentias.
Suzzi from Parlour salon did our hair and makeup for us. She did an amazing job and was a pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a stylist – she’s available at parloursalon.com – best salon in Toronto for those in the know!
We can’t wait to share the full collection with you all soon!
PhoPa is one of our favorite boutiques in Toronto. Located on busy Queen Street West, it’s one of the few boutiques in the city that carries almost exclusively Canadian designer collections. We have always been lucky enough to have our line included in the mix season after season dating back since Erin was creating Las Valentias on her own and PhoPa was located in a lower level space in Kensington market.
This weekend Phopa is having their Basement Sale. They have about 400 pieces that are in the clearance for 75% OFF. There is an additional 5% off for total purchases over $500. There will be some past season Las Valentias items so please, check it out! Remember to wear clothing such as tights and tanks as their change rooms are going to be reduced to make room for the sale racks.
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at the Fall 09 clothing show this season. It’s always great to meet new people and see old faces. Mostly though, I enjoy the lemonade made entirely of water, a bag of sugar and one half a lemon. Magnifique.
Thanks also to the men in our lives who always load us in and load us out. Until that day arrives when we can afford to own, house and feed (possibly clothe?) a donkey, we will continue to harrass you for your aid. We are forever in your debt.
These were some art pieces we put together. We sold them this past weekend but will be making more for future events.
All materials used were from past, current & future collections. Materials that remind us of where we’ve been, where we are and where we plan to go… thank you to all who have been, are and will be a part of the process!
We’re very excited to have been added to the new boutique that is IDO (Independant Designer Outlet) located on the up and coming Dundas West. Lara Stephenson who owns the shop also owns Revolve clothing, a Toronto based conscious clothing line that has seen much success.
The store showcases independent designers past season collections at significant discounts and is worth the visit. Check out the website at http://www.shop-ido.com/Welcome.html for more information.
A reason to visit sooner: There is a Dundas West community weekend THIS weekend August 14-16th with sidewalk sales, merchant promotions, entertainment etc. so stop by!
We’ve been really busy the last few months, in Ottawa for Capital Fashion Week, which was an incredibly fun show to do. We were invited by Maryse Benge who organized the show…we also met Tracie who helped us out in a huge way backstage and who writes the blog.
